FSSDAR- Florida State Society Daughters of the American Revolution
On behalf of the more than 11,000 members of the Florida State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (FSSDAR), I welcome you to our Florida State Society, DAR, website. The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), is a non-profit, non-political, volunteer women’s service organization that was founded in 1890. Eligibility for joining is proof of direct, bloodline descent from an ancestor who aided the Americans during the American Revolutionary War. These Patriots may have fought, rendered aid, or provided supplies for the cause. Most women are not even aware they have an ancestor who qualifies. Do not worry, you would not be alone in your search as we understand finding documents can be difficult, and we have volunteer genealogists to help you begin your journey. What do you have to lose to find out if you have a Patriot? Nothing!
The DAR has many thousands of members worldwide. These Daughters work to promote three objectives of NSDAR: historic preservation, education, and patriotism. DAR members volunteer more than four million hours annually. Volunteer areas are as varied as our members with assistance to active duty and veterans, schools, literacy, scholarships, preservation, libraries, conservation, American history, and many other avenues of service. Our members are diverse in age, race, and ethnicity. Yet, our commitment to service and our country is a common denominator. Visit our FSSDAR webpage at FSSDAR
